CCP London is the newest studio in the CCP family and we are currently growing our team to lead development on an unannounced online shooter.
As part of this, we are looking for a Senior Technical Designer to join the team. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated designer with a deep passion for games and combat systems, who is capable of working on both a conceptual level as well as a practical and implementation level.
The Senior Technical Designer will work with the rest of the development team in the creation and maintenance of core combat mechanics, character abilities and combat itemisation. They will also be responsible for maintaining and improving the combat experience including balance, bug fixing, system improvements and development of new features. Their field of responsibility could also reach Level Design.
The position will implement compelling combat from conceptualisation to implementation utilising Unreal 4, oversee system designs and collaborate with designers, engineering and animation teams to create varied and compelling combat and systems across the full spectrum of the game.
Your Tasks:
- Design, implement, tune, and maintain combat systems, abilities, items, weapons and player statistics.
- Ownership of the core combat mechanic and specification of associated animation.
- Ownership of the development of combat features and improvement efforts, from ideation through delivery to players.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation for all mechanics, balance and systems they are responsible for.
- Mentor and work with other designers on the team to improve their design, technical, and communication skills.
Your Profile:
- Design experience on a shooter game is a must have
- Understanding and experience in balancing complex interactions between player abilities, stats, itemisation, and weapons using testing methodologies both within and outside of the game.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive within a collaborative environment, and both give and receive constructive feedback.
- Ability to think logically and break down complex problems, with a strong focus on attention to detail.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Previous experience of of programming is a strong plus
Desirable Skills:
- Third-person shooter combat design experience.
- Experience with scripting tools or languages.
- Experience with UE4 Blueprints.
- Experience building multiple types of combat and exploration mechanics, weaponry and gadgets.
- Familiarity with the EVE universe
