CCP London is the newest studio in the CCP family, and we are currently growing our team to assist level design on an unannounced sci-fi, multiplayer shooter. We have an exciting, cutting-edge level editor. We need a talented Contract Level Designer to help the gameplay and tool team generate fun, unique, and innovative level layouts both to experiment with gameplay and to suggest new features and updates to the level editing tool. We will get together and test your prototypes on a weekly basis and review your suggestions for changes to game features and the tool.

The ideal candidate is a talented, experienced level designer with experience learning a number of different level editing tools. Our game focuses strongly on exteriors, so experience both with interiors and exteriors is desired. While we have a bespoke level editor, our game is in UE4, so experience with that engine is also preferred. Ideally, we’d like to see a portfolio of what you have created in the past.

The Contract Level Designer will work with the rest of the development team in the creation and maintenance of our multiplayer maps. The role holder will also be responsible for maintaining and updating maps to address changes in core gameplay. And will also work closely with the Environment Art Team to communicate gameplay constraints.

Your tasks:

  • Design, implement, tune, and maintain level designs for our multiplayer shooter
  • Give direct feedback to the tool team about features and usability
  • Ownership of level design of maps for which you are responsible
  • Clearly communicate with other teams including production, engineering, art, animation, as well as other designers in order to ensure a consistent gameplay experience
  • Embracing the Creative Vision, you iterate and deliver a full experience that gels all the other disciplines (combat, progression, Narrative etc)
  • Validation of all level design and environment art scoping estimates

Your profile:

  • Understanding and experience in balancing level design details with core combat using testing methodologies both within and outside of the game
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive within a collaborative environment, and both give and receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to think logically and break down complex problems, with a strong focus on attention to detail
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Visual scripting experience (i.e. blueprints, kismet, etc.)
  • Self-driven, Pro-active and passionate, you

Desirable Skills:

  • Multiplayer shooter level design experience
  • Experience with a wide variety of level editors
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4
  • Knowledge and experience in applying theorical techniques such as “Rational Level Design”
