We are seeking an enthusiastic, hyper-detail oriented, and diligent VP of Finance reporting to the CEO. As a member of the Leadership team, the VP of Finance will be responsible for high-level strategic leadership as well as performing hands-on operational activities such as day-to-day accounting matters, financial modeling, forecasting, project/product profitability analysis, payment terms, etc.

This position will be responsible for Caffeine Inc and its JV with Fox, Caffeine Studios.

What you'll do:

  • Lead strategic financial planning and execution for Caffeine Inc and Caffeine Studios, including financial planning and analysis, general ledger accounting, investor relations, financial controls, tax and monetization and revenue generation.
  • Report timely & regular financial results, forecasts, and analysis vs budget to the leadership team and the Inc and Studios boards of directors.
  • Develop financial performance measures that support the company's strategic direction and long-term financial goals, strategic initiatives for growth and ultimate IPO goal. Identify key financial business opportunities as appropriate.
  • Monitor intercompany receivables between Inc and Studios; ensure joint venture structure with FOX supports Studio and Caffeine needs.
  • Manage budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with goals and prioritization of spend across the leadership team and the CEO, including applicable financial and tax strategies. Manage procurement for the company, including lease agreements.
  • Support the company's revenue generation plans; oversee transaction processing and fraud and risk systems (App stores and Stripe) for in-app purchases. Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile and liaise with insurance brokers and external partners.
  • Liaise with our interim outsourced accounting firm and outsourced finance vendors.
  • Implement operational best practices and policies; e.g. T & E, Purchasing, payroll, AP/AR and long term financial reporting.
  • Ensure that the company complies with all regulatory requirements: manage cap table and equity stock options planning and modeling, inclusive of 409a and virtual currencies.
  • Maintain relations with external auditors, investigating their findings and recommendations including compliance reporting, record keeping of auditors and government agencies and maintain operational banking relationships.
  • Along with the CEO, maintain and monitor investor relations to meet the company’s current and future capital needs and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Oversee the issuance of financial information where required.

Who you are & What you've done:

  • 10+ years in senior management leadership in a senior finance role with team and operation oversight.
  • Experience in a high-growth start-up environment, specifically in consumer, product, content, or broadcast industries. Manage one direct report and outsourced accounting provider.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant discipline.
  • Background in financial, planning and accounting, including an understanding of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow management and general finance and budgeting and auditing with corporate governance oversight.
  • Experience with budget management, public accounting, and cash flow preferably in product, design, content, consumer, broadcast production environment.
  • Relationships with investors, banking institutions, lending and private equity partnerships.
  • Proven negotiation and vendor management oversight experience.
  • Results oriented and able to work in a fast paced environment with the ability to lead and inspire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or MBA.
  • CPA
