As a Technical Animator you are central to ensuring that we have an exceptional technical foundation for animation throughout our game to create an immersive and exciting game experience.

You are an outstanding problem solver and a great game developer - you possess a strong understanding of animation fundamentals, a great production sense and the creative and technical prowess to create and implement beautiful animations. You are someone with care and empathy for the team, whose goal is to empower others and support and drive the team to achieve their best work.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Uses a mix of traditional and automated rigging techniques to bring assets to life.

  • Has the ability to create forward thinking animation pipelines and tools that facilitate the creation of content and the implementation of features.

  • A passion for making and playing games.

Responsibilities

  • Rigging characters, vehicles, weapons and props.

  • Work closely with the team to support the creation of industry leading animation pipelines and technical foundations throughout character motion and cinematic sequences.

  • Work closely with the team to troubleshoot character and animation related issues.

  • Drive efficiency and best practices for the project and ensure we build on strong foundations that can be both modified and expanded upon.

  • Work with the team and external vendors to set requirements, and to define processes and standards.

  • Foster a collaborative culture of sharing work often and openly.

Required Qualifications and skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Maya

  • Proficiency in MEL/Python

  • A portfolio showcasing work examples

  • Up-to-date knowledge of current character rigging techniques and systems

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least one full project cycle working as a Technical Artist or Technical Animator.

  • Experience with automated rigging tools (Epic ART, Advance Skeleton, mGear ect).

  • Familiarity creating dynamic elements for secondary motion automation (Anim Dynamics, Spring/Trail and Bone Driven Controllers).

  • Experience working with Animation Blueprints, Animation Layers, State Machines, Event and Animation Graphs.

  • Motion Capture pipeline experience.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a small team - must be open to direction and able to embrace change.

  • Blender experience.

  • Knowledge of other programming languages such as C#/C++.

This position is for a full-time employee. We are excited to have new employees join our team in Seattle, but are open to remote work for the right candidate.
