Bungie is seeking a technical, creative, and team-oriented entry-level systems designer for the Destiny Team. An Associate Systems Designer is responsible for assisting with the conception and implementation of social systems that create belonginess inside Destiny. As an Associate Systems Designer on Destiny you will work iteratively season over season to improve the social connections between players. You will participate in a process and culture that relies on providing and receiving feedback to deliver systemic iteration through all phases of production.

An exceptional candidate is technically savvy, ready to learn, and is excited about being part of a culture of collaboration where teams are stronger than heroes.

With the uncertainty and rapidly changing circumstances surrounding COVID-19, most positions at Bungie are expected to onboard and work from home for a significant portion of 2021. In 2022, most Bungie employees will adopt a flexible schedule working from home part time (outside of positions identified as either 100% onsite or fully remote in CA, IL, NC, TX, and WA). Currently only a select range of positions are available for full-time remote work in CA, IL, NC, TX, and WA (please review location for details). Prospective employees located outside of CA, IL, NC, TX, and WA will need to establish WA state residency within 45 days of a start date. Bungie’s work from home, flexible work schedule, and remote policy is subject to change at the company’s discretion.

Responsibities:

  • Work with a small team to generate content for a wide variety of social systems
  • Perform basic scripting and tool work
  • Collaborate with multiple disciplines to create sustainable systems that excite and engage players
  • Design simple systems or contained improvements to existing social systems
  • Work closely with design leadership to improve our content through playtesting and feedback

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or industry experience
  • Experience working with game development software
  • Experience being a part of a team
  • Extensive experience playing social games (any genre)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Desire to work as part of a large team and ability to take feedback and direction appropriately

Nice To-Have Skills:

  • Industry experience
  • Technical experience writing text-based scripts to manage game systems (scripting in a Lua, Python, or similar language)
  • Created a finished game experience, either personally or with a small team
  • Experience being in an online community as a player (guild, clan, etc)
