Do you take pride in turning motion capture into extraordinary in-game character performances? The motions you capture will enhance character personalities and compliment the emotional tone for our audiences. We are expanding into exciting new creative projects that will ask our creators to deliver on an even greater diversity of performances that will challenge the capture team in interesting new ways. As a Motion Capture Specialist, you will be involved in all phases of our performance captures. You will collaborate with in early planning, set up the stage, run shoots and deliver the high quality data to our talented animators. Motion capture will be performed in both our new, in house volume and external partner volumes based on the demands of the shoot. Additional motion capture will be acquired in a WFH environment using Xsens equipment. Some travel may be necessary on rare occasion.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct shoots on a technical level to ensure amazing performance captures
  • Calibrate and maintain motion capture system
  • Provide marker setup and face markup for performance artists
  • Fabricate props as needed (physical and 3D)
  • Design solutions to challenging capture requests
  • Quickly adapt to on stage requests
  • Retarget motion between characters
  • Meet with the cinematics team and animators to understand their needs for motion delivery
  • Seek out the latest motion capture advancement and understand how they may benefit our projects
  • Maintain documentation for motion capture and its supporting tools

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 2+ years of experience with optical mocap systems such as Vicon, OptiTrack, Motion Analysis, or Lightstorm
  • 2+ years of experience with motion capture software such as Shogun, Motive, Cortex, or Nuance
  • Solid understanding of Motion Builder and Maya
  • Experience with data capture and delivery
  • Experience using the Xsens motion capture suit and their software, MVN animate
  • Facial experience with production setup and software such as Faceware, Dynamixyz, etc.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex integrated systems of performance capture related hardware
  • Comfortable assisting with moving props and studio equipment to meet capture requirements
  • Able to maintain a productive attitude on a fast paced production shoot
  • Soft skills to provide a comfortable, professional experience when working with people on set
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with little supervision

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

  • Experience with tools development using Python
  • Experience with rigs in Motion Builder and Maya
