Media Production Support Engineer

Are you comfortable and experienced with video production workflow hardware and software? Are you a technologist who easily communicates with people on your team, works well across different creative teams, and collaborates to create a forward-looking technical growth plan?

Bungie is searching for a Media Production Support Engineer to maintain and optimize media production hardware and software and provide technical support to the media content creation teams for post-production video workflows, content capture infrastructure, and live streaming. You will be responsible for working with media content creators and other members of the media operations team to evolve processes, software and hardware, and ensure our cutting-edge brand keeps up with media technology’s rapid evolution.

Your media technology experience should include a video editing background, live production experience, media asset management, and hardware support. You should be proficient in troubleshooting media production issues, leading both creative and technical teams in tackling technical problems, and buying and implementing new technologies. To support Bungie video production staff in ensuring the quality, availability, and reliability of our end-to-end video pipelines, this is a position that will require technical creativity, excellent communication skills, and steady leadership.

During these uncertain times and rapidly changing environment surrounding COVID-19, all positions at Bungie are subject to onboarding and working virtually/remotely. Once the studio is fully reopened, most work is expected to be performed in-person at our main headquarters in Bellevue, Washington.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical support for video production and post-production group efforts regarding video pipelines, shared network resources, workstation standards, software updates, archiving, and storage. Liaise with tech vendors on behalf of media production technology
  • Efficiently use various audio, video, and ancillary production and post-production tools (compression systems, encoders, decoders, converters, pre-processing systems, as required) while ensuring the proper use of such tools by the wider team
  • Partner with IT and security departments to bridge video production requirements for development
  • Ensure video production personnel are accurately trained on IT policies, tools, and processes
  • Mentor, support, and evolve the technical skills of video production teams in areas of audio/video workflows
  • Educate various internal and external teams on technical specifications and video production best practices for Bungie media
  • Maintain technical standards across video production, continuously audit industry best-practices and optimize often
  • Develop, distribute and update documentation relating to post-production workflows and processes
  • Work with creative teams to identify problem areas and pose creative solutions
  • Support the technology behind the post-production archive (MAM) and content library
  • Experience with cloud-based video workflows, transcoding and metadata best practices
  • Ensure legal clearances and platform standards are upheld
  • Make sound, independent decisions and know when to escalate issues
  • Evaluate complex challenges against a variety of factors and design short-term and long-term strategies

Required Skills

  • Experience in a live production/post-production role for television broadcast, cable network, film, and/or digital media
  • Technical production and or video engineering experience with knowledge of video encoding, audio and video mastering, their common failures or technical challenges and editorial post troubleshooting
  • Strong experience in audio and video workflows utilizing tools such as Adobe Premiere and Davinci Resolve
  • Ability to perform advanced troubleshooting in a PC and Mac-based work environment with a variety of 3rd party applications
  • Keen knowledge of production/post-production infrastructure requirements as it relates to enabling overall supply chain workflows
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback around practices, tools, and methods related to video production and post-production
  • Strong human relations skills with the ability to navigate diverse skill sets, learning types, and personality types
  • Superb interpersonal skills with an ability to convey complex concepts to all levels of personnel
  • Outstanding problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to analyze problems across a variety of facets to design holistic solutions
