As a Gamplay Engineering Lead at Bungie, you will define the technology that powers Bungie's next game. You’ll be involved in both hiring and managing engineering talent. You will collaborate closely with creative talent, and build the features that enable our gameplay sandbox. Most importantly, you will work with a fun, dedicated, and energetic team devoted to creating world-class gaming experiences.

During these uncertain times and rapidly changing environment surrounding COVID-19, all positions at Bungie are subject to onboarding and working virtually/remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain production-quality code using C++
  • Lead the design and execution of player sandbox, activities, and AI systems for a new game
  • Directly manage up to three engineering individual contributors, providing support, technical mentorship, constructive feedback and career development coaching
  • Collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team to build new gameplay experiences

Required Skills

  • Experience designing and building gameplay features
  • Experience leading (managing, mentoring, or guiding) engineers through planning, developing, and shipping
  • Effectively communicate with fellow engineers to jointly design, write and review code, by driving team consensus and alignment
  • Effectively write clear, concise and accurate technical documentation and email communication, with the ability to summarize complex topics and achieve alignment across multiple teams
  • Ability to communicate with customers of different technical and non-technical backgrounds to help them navigate technology and achieve their goals

Nice To Have Skills

  • Experience with game middleware. Eg. Havok, Unity, Unreal, Playfab, Gamesparks
  • Experience working on networked gameplay
  • Mathematics background in trigonometry, linear algebra, calculus, etc
