Director of User Acquisition

Bungie is looking for a data hungry, customer-centric, Director of User Acquisition. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding for modern user acquisition techniques that will drive Destiny and Bungie’s player global growth strategy.

In this role, you will build the team that acquires new players for Destiny and future Bungie products, collaborating and aligning directly with our Bungie marketing, creative, analytics, and development teams. You will work with these groups to define the user growth strategy for Destiny and Bungie, leading your team to build out ROI-positive campaigns, while discovering new opportunities to find new players.

During these uncertain times and rapidly changing environment surrounding COVID-19, all positions at Bungie are subject to onboarding and working virtually/remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Build out and lead the Bungie performance marketing team putting in place the right personnel and organization, recruitment, and mentorship of direct reports
  • Architect and maintain the strategy and roadmap for media buying across all networks, channels, platforms, and markets to drive ROI-positive growth to Destiny year-round
  • Work with analytics and engineering teams to develop and improve attribution models
  • Own and manage the direct user acquisition budget, clearly establishing core KPIs, while collaborating with finance on budget, forecasts and cash flow projections
  • Create and own predictive buying models, building tools and analysis to improve ROAS, tracking performance across player progression benchmarks to predict user quality
  • Collaborate with publishing development team to build out UA tools and tech stack, creating a foundation for the team’s long-term success
  • Negotiate contracts with networks and agencies to deliver the best growth opportunities
  • Propose features to optimize the acquisition funnel to install/purchase, working closely with the publishing and game development teams to implement
  • Educate studio leadership by communicating detailed strategy and performance summaries (targeting, creative refreshes, media buying, fraud, best practices etc.)
  • Collaborate with marketing and publishing creative teams to develop an ongoing data-informed UA creative pipeline

Required Skills

  • Experience in digital marketing and user acquisition for high growth businesses
  • Experience leading and training teams in effective user acquisition or performance-based marketing in a relevant industry (games, tech, e-commerce, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and execute a complex user acquisition strategy across multiple channels, platforms and geographies
  • Fluency in the digital marketing ecosystem, with expertise in data analytics, attribution, and measurement platforms
  • Experience managing budgets, reporting on results, and forecasting impact of UA efforts
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, using data and metrics to back up assumptions
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proven track record of distilling complex information in an understandable way to key stakeholders to drive key insights
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent marketing experience is required, and an MBA is a plus
