We’re seeking an experienced change agent who can help direct and build out Bungie’s external development capabilities. As Bungie transforms into a multi-franchise organization, the Director of External Development will both plan and drive our global approach to outsourcing and co-development, across all our projects.
The Director of External Development will report to the VP of Production and will work closely with each project team to ensure their external development needs are met, and to build out the Bungie organization to match our future development needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Build the multi-year vision and strategy for our Outsourcing and External Development efforts
Build and hire the central organization needed to coordinate external development across our multiple franchises
Work closely with each game franchise to assess their external development needs and ensure that they are met in time for or shipping needs
Work closely with our Business Development team to source, vet, and sign partnership studios across the globe
Create and maintain relationships with third-party partners
Work with business unit leaders to ensure budgets are managed and maintained.
Guide the standards, culture, and policies Bungie will need to create great player experiences with our partnered studios
Embody the highest standards of leadership and positive culture, both within Bungie and with our partners
REQUIRED SKILLS
IExtensive experience running and coordinating external development for a AAA development team
Experience as a change agent within an organization, able to build and enact processes, culture, and new organizational design
Broad knowledge of state-of-the-art outsourcing best practices
Strong communication and collaboration skills
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS
Experience building an outsourcing function from zero within a studio
Experience coordinating with a portfolio of game projects
Deep experience shipping and supporting Live Service games
Listed below is this role's base pay range within the greater Seattle area, In other locations that Bungie has approved for remote work, this pay range may be adjusted up to +/- 10% and some roles may be classified as non-exempt (hourly).
This range is determined by an array of factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Additionally, it is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Bungie employees also receive:
Annual Paid Time Off (PTO) and/or Sabbatical (SAB) based on position level
L13-L15: 20 PTO days
L16-L17: 15 PTO days / 5 SAB days
L18+: 10 PTO days / 10 SAB days
10 paid Floating Days annually, prorated in the first year of employment based on start date
10 paid Bungie-observed holidays each year
One hour of Paid Sick Time (PST) for every 30 hours worked

Washington State Pay Range
$210,425—$241,900 USD
