Bungie is looking for an exceptional Concept Artist who will work closely with the Art Director and Art Leads to expand Destiny 2’s game universe in exciting new ways.

As a Senior Concept Artist, you will be working on everything from exploring character designs and iconography to proposing visual solutions for broad worldbuilding questions. Most importantly, you will work with a fun, dedicated, and passionate cross-discipline team devoted to building new branches of the Destiny world for players to share.

You will also work closely with the production art team to help them envision what the finished results can be for the in-game content they are creating. As the ideal candidate, you should amaze us with creative designs and artwork and have the capability to inspire greatness in those around you.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create art for video games from prototype through production that captures ideas and serves as visual guide for Bungie teams that create visuals for the video game, Destiny 2.

  • Explore character, weapons & environment designs, and propose visual solutions for broad worldbuilding questions.

  • Generation of conceptual thesis using information provided by production, design, or art direction.

  • Collaborate with Art Director and Art Leads to help shape and communicate the vision of the game.

  • Create high quality concepts that clearly illustrate characters and their environments.

  • Develop concepts, style guides and documentation through course of project.

  • Mentor colleagues by providing guidance, constructive feedback and coaching to enhance efforts.

  • Attend briefing and brainstorming meetings and participate by bringing ideas or challenge direction when appropriate.

  • Align art created with game design and art direction.

  • Continually push aesthetics of the Destiny 2 universe.

  • Work closely with production to deliver quality artwork on time.

  • Take on wide variety of art tasks with great proficiency on wide range of game elements like guns, characters, armors, vehicles, environments, and other seasonal art needs.

  • Contribute original visual design ideas throughout pre-production and production.

  • Create additional illustrated concepts for marketing and PR needs.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Concept Artist.

  • AA/BFA or demonstration through portfolio, an industry standard level of art.

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Professional attitude and an ability to take constructive criticism.

  • Excellent concept art skills in both character and environmental area with an eye for perspective, color, lighting, and atmosphere.

  • Strong foundation in the traditional arts, including, but not limited to, figure drawing, landscape painting, and illustration.

  • The ability to carry an idea from the conceptual phase to the finished illustration and an understanding of translating these ideas to real-time game content.

  • Self-driven, good communicator and a great team-player.

  • Experience with Photoshop and other 2d digital software.

  • Ability to quickly iterate concepts given input from the Art Director.

  • Professional attitude and an ability to take constructive criticism.

  • An exceptional understanding of mood, lighting and architecture with a keen eye towards form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to illustration and design.

  • Superior eye for light, value, composition, color, staging and detail in environmental design.

  • Strong foundation in the traditional arts, including, but not limited to, figure drawing, landscape painting, and illustration.

  • Experience working with offsite team members/outsourcing.

  • Experience with and love of competitive games.

  • Experience with 3D tools is a plus.
