Bungie is looking for a motivated, organized, team-oriented Commerce Area Design Lead to help ensure Destiny 2’s commerce and commercialization systems continue to be industry-leading.

As the Commerce Area Design Lead, you will work closely with the Commerce Area Lead and Leadership Team to help empower and enable designers responsible for crafting high quality commerce and commercialization systems such as the Season Pass Rewards and the Timeline. You will ensure your that your designers collaborate well with peers from other disciplines to develop strategies and executions that appropriately support Area goals. You will mentor and guide those teams to ensure their work creates satisfying player experiences and advances their design craft.

You are the Design Lead of an interdisciplinary area that creates a compelling commerce and commercialization ecosystem in Destiny. You will be accountable for:

  • Validating Area content structures and techniques are sustainable, agile, and aligned with discipline best practices.
  • Reviewing specs and deliverables to ensure all Strategies and Executions cleanly roll up into their respective Goals and effectively support their Vision Statement.
  • Upkeeping Commerce Item Taxonomies, including validation that desired stock quantities align with goals and growth plans from Product and Area Leadership.
  • Prioritizing and providing feedback of new tools and workflow improvement for Commerce designers.
  • Determining what tools are being used, what support/tech growth they need, and whether there are better solutions in the broader investment ecosystem.
  • Mentoring, guiding, and providing feedback to Feature Team leadership groups to enable them to successfully achieve their mandates.
  • Ensuring Area Feature Leads develop and leverage highly effective team, time, and task management methods.


  • Experience successfully leading multiple teams of designers through several game development cycles.
  • Experience hiring, training, mentoring and managing peer and junior designers.
  • Passion for interdisciplinary collaboration and effective compromise
  • Proven ability to interpret and achieve high-level experience goals set by leadership.
  • Commitment to creating a positive work environment.

  • Extensive knowledge of how monetization systems function and why people engage with them.
  • In-depth understanding of game engines, technology and the game development process.

  • Experience shipping multiple monetization or MTX-adjacent features
  • Discipline leadership experience

Most Bungie full-time employees will adopt a digital first approach allowing remote work in Bungie approved locations (outside of positions identified as 100% onsite in Bellevue/Seattle, or individuals preferring a hybrid/flex environment).
