We’re looking for a Technical Artist to help craft a new game at Snowman in downtown Toronto.

You’ll be joining a small team, where you’ll work closely with our Art Director to develop a custom stylized NPR shader pipeline that works optimally on mobile devices. You’ll have a central role in the visual development of our new title, creating shaders, weather effects and particles to help bring life to our unique game world.

This is a full-time, on-site position with occasional opportunities to work from home. Due to COVID-19, this position will be temporarily remote until our office re-opens.

Skills

  • Knowledge in Unity shaders (ShaderLab preferred and/or visual scripting)
  • An understanding of vector math and physics fundamentals
  • A strong understanding of Unity and programming in C#
  • A good eye and aesthetic sensibilities
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Create custom shaders that reflect the project’s art direction
  • Support our shader pipeline by creating accessible tools for artists
  • Bridge the gap between Tech and Art by creating documentation for our art pipeline
  • Create optimized weather effects and particles
  • Create optimized screen space effects such as lens flares and colour grading
  • Help optimize our visuals so they run flawlessly on a large gamut of console and mobile devices

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years as a Technical Artist in the gaming industry
  • At least 1 shipped (non-student) title, preferably in Unity
  • Portfolio showing examples of stylized (non-photo real) work
  • Based in Toronto, or willing to relocate
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada

Bonus Points

  • Experience on minimal/non-photorealistic games
  • Familiar with iOS / macOS / tvOS ecosystems
  • Fine art experience
  • Rigging knowledge is a plus
  • An understanding of game design and game feel
