SENIOR UNREAL ENGINE PROGRAMMER

Brass Token is an independent game studio that develops original IP story-driven action games. We are looking for a full-time senior programmer that has expert knowledge of Unreal Engine and proven experience with console video game development. This role is primarily responsible for leading the console development of a third person horror game on one or more platforms. You will mix technical proficiency and creative collaboration with art and design to balance cutting edge visuals, console specific gameplay features, and optimized performance.

The ideal candidate has Canadian citizenship and lives in Vancouver, BC. The studio will be working remotely for the foreseeable future, with the intention to return to a part-time remote/office workplace setting once things are safe. The ability to engage in a covid-19 safe environment may be required at times in the coming months to test different hardware configurations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new systems and maintain existing systematic Blueprints.
  • Take advantage of cutting-edge next generation console features.
  • Work closely with the team to help achieve performance targets on different console generations.
  • Problem-solve hitches and streaming bottlenecks with the content creators.
  • Help provide technical leadership and mentorship to all members of the team.
  • Break down high-level tasks and create realistic and achievable implementation plans that fit into the budget.
  • Assist with the creation of gameplay content and with the quality assurance of the game.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional software programming experience.
  • Proven development experience on game consoles.
  • At least 3 years experience working on shipped commercial titles.
  • Strong C++ programming and debugging skills.
  • Strong profiling and optimization skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Unreal Engine and the Blueprint scripting language.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Recommended:

  • Shipped at least one AAA third person action game on console.
  • An understanding of rendering optimizations and an interest in artistic solutions.
  • A passion for gameplay and providing design solutions to improve performance.
