As we establish our presence in the Lone Star State, we need an experienced Technical Director to help steer development of our upcoming Star Wars action game.

About The Position
The Technical Director will be a founding member of the Austin, TX studio, working closely with their counterparts both locally and in Brighton to build the next blockbuster mobile franchise, and setting the studio up for sustainable delivery and future growth.

This role will report into BossAlien’s Director of Engineering in the UK. As a core member of the Austin leadership team, the Technical Director will have significant autonomy and a high level of impact on the studio’s engineering culture, and play a key part in building the studio’s team.
In This Role, You Will
- Build, lead, mentor and manage a team of up to 10 engineers, scaling over time as we grow our presence in Austin.
- Grow and mentor your team, earn their trust, advance their skills and their careers.
- Advise studio leadership and contribute positively to the development culture at BossAlien.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, user experience, product and analytics teams to identify needs, evaluate requirements, write specifications, and design complex software solutions.
- Support an engineering team through the challenges of building a large scale software project consisting of a sophisticated game client, scalable backend services, development tools and live operations tools.
- When needed - i.e. less and less as the team scales - write well designed, efficient and testable code with one or more Object Oriented languages (C++, C#, Go, Python) and their associated frameworks.
- Lean on your prior expertise as a strong individual contributor in at least one technical domain, but be able to work with engineers in any domain, even if not an expert, and provide useful guidance and feedback.
- Strive for excellence in software craftsmanship, and act as an influencer and mentor for developers on the team.
