Job Description

Well Met! Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an amazing Technical Artist to join the Hearthstone team supporting the core game we know and love as well as exciting New Ways to Play.

As a Technical Artist you’ll use your solid understanding of game creation tools and production methods to help maintain and grow our ability to work with remote partners and collaborators across the globe. With a focus on scaling our internal tools and supporting our outsource art supervisors, you will bring your initiative and creative problem-solving abilities across a wide range of technical solutions that are operating at a large scale and in a distributed environment. You Bring With You

  • 3+ years of experience as a technical artist, preferably with experience in mobile and/or a live game.
  • Expertise in C# and/or Python, especially as it applies to working in DCC applications.
  • Web-based development experience and skillsets including Angular, React or similar
  • Experience with supporting Art Outsourcing and assisting art in developing scalable processes, tools, and pipelines.
  • A solid understanding of production-level art creation and software including Maya, Photoshop, Unity Engine or equivalent.
  • A results-oriented and collaborative approach to tool development, problem solving, and challenges of scale
  • Ability to communicate effectively with artists, designers, engineers, and other technical artists.
  • Proficiency in technical problem solving and debugging game content and process
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a service-oriented, support-focused approach
  • Database or backend knowledge and experience is a plus
  • Experience with rigging and character setup is a plus

We Entrust You With

  • Developing and maintaining art pipelines, process and workflow focused on the outsource team and external collaborators
  • Improving and automating workflows in collaboration with art, design, and engineering
  • Identifying potential and recurring workflow problems and collaborating with other developers to find viable solutions through both custom and off the shelf solutions
  • Managing and maintaining asset integration, files, pipelines, and processes.
  • Serving as a troubleshooting and pipeline point-of-contact for external partners
  • Testing new tools and vetting workflows before deployment to production
  • Helping to promote performance optimization for art assets by creating clear standards, performance monitoring tools, and building a maintainable process for reviewing and optimizing game assets.
  • Building efficient external pipelines and continuously identifying art workflow problems during production, and working with TAs, engineers, and artists to solve them.
