Blizzard Entertainment games don’t just begin with game ideas, or end once those games are released. A lot more goes into the creation of a Blizzard product than the work of developers—and we support our games for years after they’re in the hands of gamers world-wide.

We’re seeking an experienced staff accountant who will become an indispensable resource for Blizzard’s games and products. This position will be part of Blizzard’s Accounting team working to support game development, publishing, and Activision Blizzard e-sports in accounting closes, journal entry preparation and monthly reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries with supporting backup, ensuring that correct account codes are utilized, and transactions are accurately explained and supported
  • Generate and manage analysis and reconciliation for use in accounting close journal entries and e-sports teams reporting. Ensure entries are properly supported and communicated to appropriate teams to avoid misstatements of financial information
  • Develop a level of "expertise" in business operations to understand their impact on accounting transactions
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting for assigned areas, allowing managers to make informed business decisions
  • Assist the Manager in ensuring the timeliness of the general ledger close for month-end and quarter-end and in addressing ad hoc or special reporting requests
  • Work with other department personnel – AB revenue team, publishing, and AB e-sports, AB tax, etc. - to ensure a high level of accuracy of information, while ensuring efficiencies are maximized in processing time
  • Collaborate with Finance and identify any potential process improvements. Provide feedback as needed to the Manager
  • Perform analysis to support accounting positions and assumptions
  • Support the external audit team to ensure all information is provided in a timely and accurate manner during quarterly reviews and annual audit

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting
  • Possess a professional qualification such as CPA
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel is required
  • Experience with Oracle eBusiness Suite, OBIEE Answers and/or Hyperion Essbase is a plus
  • Must possess strong analytical skills with ability to problem solve
  • Must be highly organized and have strong attention to detail and able to deal with a high volume of data
  • Ability to work proactively and independently as well as with a team in a fast-paced, high growth environment
  • Must possess strong work ethic and be willing to work extra hours and weekends during quarter-end and year-end closes in order to meet deadlines
