Diablo IV is seeking an experienced and skilled Online Engineer, who is excited to implement server technology at a global scale in service of amazing experiences for our players. You will help develop new systems and services for our game, coordinating across disciplines with designers and client engineers. In addition to having the usual technical chops, we want to hear from qualified engineers who have an absolute passion for gaming, programming, and finding simple solutions to complex problems. The ideal candidate should be excited by the idea of working closely with designers to create compelling and epic features that will keep players engaged for years.
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio is either Albany, NY, Irvine, CA or Austin, TX
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with other engineers to design and implement features across the entire stack
Design and implement components in support of gameplay features
Coordinate with other engineers on gameplay simulation and network efficiency
Design and build technology that is robust, extensible, flexible, and simple to use.
Requirements:
5+ years of professional engineering experience with a strong focus on C++
Familiarity with object-oriented programming principles and design patterns
Self-motivated with a willingness to develop full stack (from game clients to backend services)
Pluses
Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience
Familiarity developing distributed services within cloud environments (GCP, AWS) using containerization & orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with lower level networking technologies / protocols (TCP, UDP) and higher level communication technologies (HTTP, gRPC, Kafka, etc.)
Demonstrating familiarity with relevant SQL / NoSQL persistence technologies (SQLite, Cassandra, Redis)
Familiarity with standard methodologies in security (encryption, denial of service, trust models)
Linux development experience
Previous experience shipping and supporting a Live product at a global scale

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $121,500.00 - $224,880.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
