Blizzard Entertainment’s information systems team is looking for an experienced and talented Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for Blizzard’s Tools and Automation IT team. The Tools and Automation team works primarily with our game development teams on delivering key tools/applications and support of their CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate is skilled in collaborating with a global team, and leading technology discussions and decisions. This position works directly with project managers and executive leadership to implement technology solutions for Blizzard.

This role requires substantial interaction with other Blizzard support and development teams, therefore strong communication and interpersonal skills are required as well as a desire for delivering great customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 6-10 engineers

  • Work with the business and IT leadership to establish a vision and roadmap

  • Provide both technical mentorship and guidance for the team

  • Utilize various tools and frameworks to build solutions for both our information services team and development teams

  • Solve tough and complex business problems, utilizing both repeatable and creative solutions

  • Translate business requirements and objectives into solutions

  • Connect existing tools and platforms together, eliminating manual work

Requirements

  • 7+ years of writing code for use in large organizations

  • 4+ years of leading an engineering team, or equivalent experience

  • Strong understanding of several languages such as python, C, java, PowerShell, puppet, chef

  • Strong understanding of security best practices

  • Strong understanding of CI and build pipelines

  • Strong desire to automate what should be automated

  • Experience managing version control systems such as Perforce or GitHub

  • Experience with scaling out applications, both geographically as well as capacity

  • Highly motivated and self-driven, capable of seeing the bigger picture and leading their team to that vision

Pluses

  • A degree in computer science or a related field

  • Experience with monitoring tools

  • Experience using group collaboration software

  • Hands on experience with containerization technology such as docker or Kubernetes

  • A passion for video games

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $121,500.00 - $224,880.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
