Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a talented, motivated, and experienced character technical artist who has a passion for tools and pipelines to join the Diablo 4 Team. This position will facilitate the development and support of front-end tools and technology utilized in our game creation pipeline. In addition to implementing and supporting tools, you will also be expected to evaluate workflows and identify ways to improve them. You should have a thorough knowledge of modeling, rigging, animation, deformation, and simulation tools used in the modern AAA game engines, as well as related cross pipeline workflows. Familiarity with character pipelines and technologies is required. This position will be the point of communication between multiple teams across multiple disciplines. Your excellent communication skills will be put to good use as you train, educate and inform ancillary teams of our front-end technology development.
What you will doing
You’ll be responsible for the creation, improvement and upkeep of the character asset pipeline. From modeling, through rigging and animation, all the way through implementation into the engine, you’ll be helping the artists have the best experience possible making assets. You’ll work directly with artists and engineers to identify pain points and directly create tools and workflows to solve these issues. You’ll use python, Maya, Houdini and other packages daily. You’ll need excellent communication and customer support skills to go along with a strong coding skillset. Where possible, you’ll also help other departments, such as environmental art and VFX with tool creation and pipeline support as well.

Requirements
- Minimum experience 5 years’ experience in the gaming industry as a tools developer
- Excellent Python development skills and debugging techniques
- Detailed working knowledge of Maya
- Experience with Python, MEL, and Maya API
- Experience with Animation and Rigging techniques
- Familiarity with character pipelines, such as modeling, rigging and animation
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Technical support focused
- An avid gamer

- Experience with Houdini and creating tools with it.
