Job Description:

Unannounced Project – Irvine

We’re a new team and we’re looking for a versatile senior art outsourcing supervisor to come work with us on an unannounced project for Blizzard. Your goal is to handle asset creation and management, feedback, and engine integration of outsourced environment art.

The ideal candidate can give precise and constructive feedback, provide demonstrations on how to implement it, and direct external artists to successful results. Candidates must also be able to meet our internal standards on environment art from start to finish. You will coach and assist others on how to meet our high standard of art creation.

DAY TO DAY TASKS:

  • Manage communication of internal art team’s feedback to external art teams, mentor external artists utilizing feedback to drive successful results, and maintain a strong creative relationship between internal and external art teams.
  • Generate detailed documentation such as video references and examples of art asset production, procedures, and engine requirements to support the external artists.
  • Own the quality control over all incoming art assets.
  • Implement approved assets into the game engine, along with any needed fixes to keep assets consistent and game ready.
  • Work closely with an outsource manager, art leads, and the production team to determine outsourcing needs.
  • Coordinate with the outsource manager to schedule and track incoming assets.

YOUR BACKGROUND:

  • Experience in game art asset creation across a variety of software packages including Maya, 3ds Max, Zbrush, Photoshop and Substance.
  • Strong environment art creation experience and skills are a must.
  • Must be highly committed, well organized, self-driven and a great team player.
  • Must be process driven with a strong mentorship mindset.
  • Understanding of the visual style of Blizzard games and a passion to push it to the next level.
  • You think of yourself as a game developer first.
  • Have shipped AAA PC or console titles as an artist or an outsourcing art supervisor.
  • Excellent communicator with good people skills.
  • Excitement about how to leverage outsourcing to build efficient production pipelines that are continuously improved upon over time.
  • Expert level knowledge of all the various tools and techniques used to craft assets for modern game engines.

PLUSES:

  • Experience working with outsourcing teams.
  • Experience in management or leadership.
  • Some level of fluency in a language other than English such as Chinese, German, Spanish, Italian, or Korean.
