Job Description:

In 2021, the next chapter of Call of Duty League esports kicks off. The Call of Duty League is a global, city-based esports league composed of 12 professional teams, representing 11 markets across North America and Europe.

Referees are responsible for the integrity of matches taking place at Call of Duty events. This includes responding rapidly to any hardware or software issues, moderating player questions and complaints, and ensuring compliance to the League’s Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Setup competition matches and coordinate with teams and players as required to begin matches on schedule
  • Capture the final match results and submit to the tournament administrator to advance the competition
  • Escalate difficult questions, match disputes, or IT issues on the competition station to the correct personnel in real-time to ensure the competition continues on schedule
  • Learn and maintain an in-depth understanding of league and event rules and regulations
  • Work closely with League officials, broadcast, and operations to ensure a top-quality competition
  • Work remotely with operations teams and in person with each team to be the eyes and ears on sight

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 1+ year of experience working in customer service or support, preferably in a technical setting
  • A passion for esports and gaming, especially the Call of Duty esports community
  • In-depth knowledge of CDL rules
  • Strong understanding of esports competitions and formats, especially FPS
  • Experience working with competitive players or talent in a professional environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues in high stress environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills, while maintaining an ability to always stay focused on the work at hand
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel, including international travel
