Job Description:

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a Product Design Manager to join our Corporate Applications team. As a Product Design Manager, you’ll lead a team of designers and researchers and partner closely with our program management and engineering teams. From custom-built applications, integrations, to third party services across our Corporate Applications portfolio, you’re the connective tissue between several applications and service teams. As we scale up toward expanding our services across the larger enterprise of Activision Blizzard, your job will be to help develop and establish standardized ways to execute iteratively by collaborating with our internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Guide research, user experience- and visual design for our corporate applications
  • Lead large-scale and complex design projects/programs, establish and update design processes
  • Collaborate on large-scale projects across multiple teams with people of all disciplines, not just design
  • Use analytics, competitive analysis, interviews, and other methods of testing to inform design decisions
  • Create appropriate artifacts, including service blueprints, wireframes, flowcharts, prototypes, feature matrices and mock-ups
  • Provide clear design direction, encouragement and actionable feedback to team members
  • Lead and develop a team of designers and researchers, guiding them through career coaching, soft skills, and partner management
  • Consult with design leadership at Blizzard on best-practices, emerging tech, and new standards
  • Recruit new designers and actively participate in the hiring process
  • Assist in the evolution and improvement of intra- and inter-team standards and processes
  • Facilitate opportunities for cross-disciplinary and interdepartmental learning and knowledge sharing
  • Drive best practices in design for UX, UI, and Research – with a focus on Accessibility, Polish, and Sustainability

Requirements

  • Degree in Product Design, UX Design, UI Design, Human Factors, HCI or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 7 years working in the field of UX/UI design
  • Minimum 3 years of proven managerial/leadership experience
  • Expert level proficiency in interaction design and at least one or more of the following design disciplines: user research, visual design, or front-end development
  • Experience working in a product organization, driving products from conception and ideation though launch and beyond over multiple releases
  • Ability to manage expectations with senior leaders and project stakeholders to help shape, define, and manage ongoing communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; ability to organize and present information to leadership and executives
  • Passion for coaching and mentoring creative team members
  • Experience and expertise in high-level product strategy
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • A team player, able to build relationships and collaborate with partner teams
  • Interest in innovation and continually learns new technologies and design skills/methods within the digital space
  • Obsessive about delivering and following through
  • Expert in Agile product development process (Scrum & Kanban), and how design fits into this
  • Expert with project management software (Jira, Confluence, Miro)
  • Experience working in design and research tools (Figma, Adobe Suite, Dovetail)
  • Familiarity with research and product testing methodologies
