As a server lead on the Overwatch team, you will be part of a talented and passionate team developing world class server technology and experiences, unlocking the potential of our engineers, designers and artists to create compelling and exciting features that will bolster our server infrastructure and keep players engaged for years to come. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the challenges involved with authoring game server features and/or systems, be comfortable leading a team of engineers, and be able to collaborate closely with other disciplines.


  • Partner with the associate technical director to contribute to the technical direction for the server team

  • Collaborate with engineers, producers, designers, and internal partners to implement features and improve technology

  • Serve as an active partner in the game team's leadership

  • Evaluate and upgrade the technical skills of engineers on the server team

  • Work with other leads and producers to establish tasks and schedules

  • Maintain effective relationships with key internal partners


  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Previous leadership experience

  • Passion for playing and making video games

  • Strong C++ programming skills

  • Experience creating or extending reusable server technology

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in AAA game development


  • Experience working on first-person or other action-oriented games

  • Experience working on and maintaining a live game

  • Experience working on a networked multiplayer game

  • Passion for server and/or networking technology

  • Experience working with large scale distributed systems

  • Familiar with Blizzard games
