Greetings! The Hearthstone team is looking for a talented Game Designer to join our Card Design team. As a Game Designer, you’ll be responsible for creating the exciting themes and mechanics that go into our expansions. In this role, your game design experience, critical thinking skills, and player-first mindset will be essential. Our ideal candidate will also have extensive Hearthstone knowledge, outstanding people skills, and a longstanding passion for playing video games.
COVID-19 Hiring Update: We’ve transitioned to a work-from-home model and we’re continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role is expected to begin as a remote position. We understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore possible interim options.
Responsibilities
- Create engaging mechanics for Hearthstone’s future expansions
- Craft unique flavor for Hearthstone expansions and individual cards
- Collaboratively iterate based on feedback, testing, and intuition
- Work with interdisciplinary teams to deliver players highly polished content
Requirements
- A feel for fun and the ability to effectively communicate the player experience
- Previous experience designing games as personal, academic, or professional projects
- Experience implementing game content using a programming or scripting language
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a highly collaborative environment
- Strong desire to learn and grow
Pluses
- 1-2 years of Game Design experience in a professional capacity
- Experience playing Hearthstone at an expert level
- Experience with Unity and C#
- Creative writing experience
