As an Overwatch engineering manager, you will partner with the current senior engineering manager to help support the entire engineering team. You will be responsible for aiding career development, motivating and supporting engineers, and working with engineering leads to evaluate the engineers’ performance, providing coaching and counseling as needed. We have a world-class team of engineers who are dedicated and passionate about their work, and you will be applying your management background and skills to help support and improve the day-to-day life of this team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with the senior engineering manager and engineering leads to help support the team
Develop relationships with the engineers and understand their career goals and aspirations
Facilitate feedback between engineers and the engineering leads
Provide coaching and counseling via mentoring and one-on-one meetings
Partner with the engineering leadership to support recruitment efforts
Organize and participate in delivery of performance appraisals
Identify and secure relevant training opportunities and conferences for the engineering team
Promote a healthy work/life balance for the engineering team
Promote, contribute to, and participate in a culture of inclusion and diversity
REQUIREMENTS
Experience managing, coaching, and mentoring software engineers
Exceptional attention to detail and follow-up
Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
Experience with staffing, interviewing and team building
Solid cross-disciplinary communications between engineering, production, design, and art
Approachable, relaxed, and friendly demeanor
PLUSES
Degree in computer science or equivalent professional engineering experience
Experience working on first-person or other action-oriented games
Experience working on a live game
Familiar with Blizzard games
