Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an experienced and creative Director, Human Resources to join our HR team in Irvine, CA. This role will be an HR business and thought partner to the World of Warcraft (WoW) Development team, which is home to 300+ game developers focused on creating the best MMO in the industry. This person will also assist in HR projects and initiatives across the enterprise, and will report to the Human Resources People Officer.

Covid-19 Hiring Update: We’ve transitioned to a work-from-home model and we’re continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role is expected to begin as a remote position. We understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore possible interim options.

What You’ll Do

  • Serves as a strategic advisor, senior human capital expert and thought partner to the WoW leadership team regarding key talent strategies, HR initiatives and issues
  • Establish and implement HR plans that effectively communicate and support the company’s core values, vision, and overall business objectives while paying attention to the impact on employees
  • Lead, facilitate and optimize the delivery of consistently excellent HR services in the areas of on-boarding, employee communications, organizational development, training, performance management, employee relations, benefits, compensation, compliance, and mentoring
  • Assess and support the organization’s culture to ensure alignment with our core values
  • Strengthen team cohesion and develop leaders
  • Enthusiastically identifies problem areas and proposes solutions, both within the WoW team and within HR as a whole
  • Support the team's employee opinion survey efforts by helping craft and drive action plans
  • Provide mentoring to management and employees to resolve conflicts, improve team effectiveness, and ensure support of organizational changes and business plans
  • Implement human resources policies and guarantee adherence with legal regulations
  • Participate in strategy sessions with the HR team on policy and HR practices
  • Ensure HR transactional needs are met for the team

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years’ dynamic HR business partner/talent partner experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience as a senior HR leader managing a developing a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Proven success leading the organization of people managers on the transformation journey
  • Demonstrable track record leading, and delivering high quality HR services across all disciplines to all levels of employees (senior management, first level managers and line level employees)
  • Valued teammate who builds reciprocal relationships with HR specialist teams (talent acquisition, compensation, HR operations, etc.) and business partners
  • Shown success utilizing employee attraction, engagement and retention strategies
  • Superior interpersonal and communications skills (both written and verbal)
  • High degree of business insight; results oriented with an ability to work independently
  • Able to excel in an ever-changing environment using an ambitious mindset
  • Self-starter, highly motivated and achievement oriented
  • Able to maintain a strict code of confidentiality and discretion

Advantages

  • SPHR certification for California
  • Experience in Workday, established competency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven background in California employment law
