The Creative Director, Blizzard Video (CD) is responsible for the creative quality of all Blizzard Video content. The CD inspires and empowers teams to do their best work by fostering a highly collaborative environment and equipping creators with best practices, training, tools and resources. Blizzard Video is the internal creative video production arm of Blizzard’s award-winning Story & Franchise Development (SFD) team.

Reporting to the department Director, the CD will support Blizzard Video’s vision to “Engage, inform and activate Blizzard’s global community” through the development of quality video and digital content. As part of the Blizzard Video leadership team, the CD will work with fellow leaders on process improvement and work together to address issues when they arise.

The ideal candidate possesses both a highly developed creative aesthetic and strong leadership skills and must be at ease managing a team of Project Directors and Motion Graphics Artists.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures Blizzard Video exceeds expectations for Blizzard Quality in all creative pursuits.
  • Manages a team of Project Directors and Motion Graphics Artists.
  • Provides creative oversight throughout projects via daily and weekly check-ins and reviews.
  • Keeps projects on strategy and on creative brief.
  • Works with SFD’s VP of Creative to ensure projects maintain Blizzard Quality and are on brand across IPs.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to develop creative briefs for campaigns and projects.
  • Interfaces with Game Team and Marketing leadership to ensure success.
  • Acts as ultimate arbiter and decision maker in the case of internal creative debates.
  • Designs and maintains an efficient and effective creative development pipeline.
  • Collaborates with fellow leaders to improve processes and protocols across the department.
  • Acts as a Project Director as projects demand and bandwidth allows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design, Film, Media, Communications, related field or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a creative leadership role as a Director or Creative Lead at a game company, advertising agency, or branded content production company.
  • Passion and talent for connecting audiences with ideas through visual storytelling.
  • Background in broadcast, video or motion-driven content creation.
  • A portfolio demonstrating a track record of delivering highly creative and effective content for Fortune 500 brands.
  • Ability to define and execute on high-level creative strategies.
  • Ability to articulate clear creative direction and translate to actionable feedback.
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and work with well with others.
  • A passion for video games, animation, movies and the culture that connects them.
