As a narrative designer you will be responsible for the overall narrative cohesion of any given project. You will become the owner of the game’s narrative design to ensure that it has a singular vision and flows in a compelling manner alongside system and level design.

Core responsibilities:

  • Create compelling quests, missions, and puzzles within new and established game worlds
  • World-build through the creation of game lore, characters and setting details, or contribute to that process as part of a team
  • Write linear and branching dialogues, documents, and various in-game texts
  • Work with the design team to build cohesive and obtainable ideas
  • Work with all disciplines within the games team to ensure game concepts are clearly presented and understood
  • Take an active role in game prototyping and debugging
  • Create, maintain, and/or contribute to narrative design documentation for projects
  • Contribute to concept development and game pitches

Requirements:

  • Strong writing skills
  • Deep understanding of story structure, linear and non-linear narrative, verbal, and non-verbal storytelling methods
  • Passion for video games of various genres. Rich gaming experience, preferably in detective games
  • Advanced PC user

Advantageous experience:

  • Involvement in at least one released game
  • Experience using game engines (Unity and Unreal)
  • Experience with visualisation tools (MS Visio) or narrative design tools (articy:draft, ultra-outliner, Twine, inkle, etc.)
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Experience working with other disciplines (Art, Code, QA, Production, etc.)
  • Experience in presenting and public speaking
