Blackbird Interactive is looking for a passionate and experienced programmer to join our team to be a key part of our engineering backbone working on an exciting and innovative IP.

Do you want to build compelling game experiences having designed, prototyped and delivered high profile systems, features and tools across multiple gaming platforms? This position will work with our Lead Platform Programmer to ensure that the game is supported by the platforms on which it will ship. You will be responsible for optimization and platform-specific service integration.

Do you love working with a small team of talented designers, artists and programmers to create ambitious in-game content? You will be part of a small, high performing team who can crunch ideas quickly and come up with dazzling solutions to challenging problems. You will have a collaborative approach and be directly involved in the day to day decision making and ship a high quality game.

Responsibilities

  • Developing systems for specific platforms (PC, console, mobile) to ensure that the game is working correctly on the operating system.
  • Be the expert and owner for platform SDKs and hardware.
  • Supporting optimization of systems and dealing with platform specific issues such as bug fixes and systems crashes.
  • Jump wholeheartedly into learning new technologies and systems and leverage them in creative ways to meet our technical and business needs.
  • Assess requirements and provide effort estimates to guide an evolving development plan.
  • Embrace and help improve our engineering practices for solid design, testing, and implementation.

Requirements

  • Experience shipping AAA games on multiple platforms.
  • 5+ years of game development on shipped products.
  • Deep understanding of C++.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4
  • Experience optimizing systems for console platforms.
  • Self direction and a proven ability to thrive in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills, including verbal and written skills.

Pluses

  • Experience with Unity 3D, or other similar full-featured game engine.
  • Experience debugging and understanding rendering technology.
  • Desktop / Console / Mobile/ VR development experience.
  • Understanding of memory management systems, file systems, CPU/GPU profiling tools
  • Demonstrated passion for games and technology.
