In 2022, we announced that our studio is implementing a four-day work week as well as supporting in-studio, remote, and hybrid work arrangements as permanent options to our employees.

Blackbird Interactive is looking for a strong developer to assist gameplay development on a major Unreal project. Do you know how to get things done? Can you work with designers and artists to understand and implement what they need? We are looking for a talented team player eager to be a key part of our engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop gameplay systems and features with an emphasis on presentation and player interaction such as input and locomotion, cameras, animation triggers, etc.
  • Work closely with designers to understand and refine design intentions via prototypes and rapid iteration.
  • Collaborate continuously with design, art and technical teams to define requirements and iteratively build solutions.
  • Interact with other engineers to improve the whole technical team and process.
  • Assess requirements and provide effort estimates to guide an evolving development plan.
  • Embrace and help improve our engineering practices for solid design, testing, and implementation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of proven game development experience.2+ years of experience with UnrealStrong understanding of modern C++.
  • Self-direction and a proven ability to thrive in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills, including verbal and written skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Pluses

  • Experience shipping AAA games on multiple platforms.
  • Experience with Unity 3D or other similar full-featured game engines.
  • Strategy game development experience.
  • Desktop / Console development experience.
  • Demonstrated passion for games and technology.
