The Nitty Gritty

Big Viking Games is on the hunt for an Intermediate DevQA to join our team! Reporting to our Sr QA Analyst, you’ll be responsible for building out and levelling up our automation testing on both of our flagship games - YoWorld and FishWorld. Introducing automated testing will be necessary for scaling the business and ensuring a high quality game. Game stability is the objective!

The Duties:

  • Automate API’s (webservices and RESTful) and backend database testing using our internal tools or make suggestions for new tools to be used
  • Gather requirements and develop or extend tests to provide test coverage
  • Integrate test automation steps into CI/CD pipelines and orchestration tools
  • Collaborate with the rest of the technical team to implement QA automation
  • Build tests against system scalability and stability
  • Work alongside our other developers to ensure testing is integrated into game features and provide testing requirements
  • Form and deliver specific recommendations based on test results
  • Advocate for and suggest best practices to ensure code quality

The Requirements:

The Must Haves

  • 3+ years in a software development role or capacity (ideally working with Java, Typescript, React)
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related field

The Nice to Haves

  • A passion for games and the gaming industry
  • A portfolio of games or game-related projects
  • Experience with Docker, Ansible, Jenkins, Redis, SmartFox, Memcache, Postman, REST-assured, Selenium, and other API testing software
  • Comfortable with complex software development projects
