The Nitty Gritty

Big Viking Games is seeking a Data Lead to join the team! This role will augment the analytics capacity of our product team to provide analysis on players, the games, and the business at large. You’ll function as part of the product management team, however, you will also interact frequently with other internal teams, such as Customer Experience and Finance to deliver reports. This role is offered remotely, based out of ON, Canada.

The Duties:

  • Be responsible for the quality and accuracy of the reporting delivered by the analysts, by implementing thorough quality assurance practices, and continuous data validation
  • Drive your team to help the company understand our players and their behaviours, constantly being on the lookout for new ways to gather quantitative data
  • Understand the high level needs of the product team and other stakeholders, and help convey them to your team
  • Identify the right tools and technologies to support both your team and stakeholders, with an emphasis on clearly communicated and actionable data
  • Manage the productivity of your team when delivering analytical support for game design, development, testing and operations, including player journey and engagement, retention, and marketing
  • Help coming up with new tools supporting the business, for instance a digital goods inventory reporting system supporting large amounts of SKUs
  • Understand the data architecture and the pipeline requirements to improve centralization, automation, and reporting
  • Create requirements for products to improve their data collection and transmission creating more consistency and accuracy in reporting
  • Support marketing and financial analysis including funnel analysis, media campaign performance, and KPI forecasting
  • Other areas of data-driven reporting, analysis and investigations as required

The Requirements:

The Must Haves

  • 6+ years experience in quantitative or qualitative research (preferably from Games)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Analytics, or similar
  • Proficiency in SQL and other query languages
  • Proficiency in Python or other statistics tools
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting design
  • Team management or leadership experience
  • Strong ability to make a connection between numerical data and customer behaviour, ideally gained in a games or customer-facing software development environment
  • Solid writing and presentation skills to effectively and concisely convey analysis and technical information
  • High integrity and ability to work with confidential information
