The Bethesda.net team is seeking a technical manager with strong technical skills for our hosting and operations team. You will provide technical guidance and evaluate technical solutions as well as manage and support your team. You will collaborate on data center hosted solutions with teams and studios across the company. You will need experience with colocation data centers and operations which operate at scale 24/7 as well as some experience with public cloud providers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide technical leadership to a hosting and operations team focused on the maintenance and build-out of our colocation data centers
  • Help to establish best practice for operating in public and private cloud hosted environments
  • Collaborate with internal teams and infrastructure providers for capacity management, utilization auditing, and asset management
  • Automate processes to improve reliability and enable engineers to focus on high value tasks
  • Ensure technical solutions align with the overall engineering direction and strategy
  • Provide professional growth opportunities and guidance to engineers on the team
  • Participate in strategic planning to establish a long-term technical roadmap
  • Help establish a culture of ownership, customer empathy, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Experience leading and growing an engineering team
  • Deep understanding of data center operations
  • Experience with network architecture and system administration
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • A strong understanding of at least one programming language (bash, python, golang, etc.)
  • Pragmatic approach to providing technical solutions that are customer centric and solve business needs
  • Experience working with teams that blend in-house and contracted engineers
  • Excellent written and verbal skills

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of both public cloud and collocated data center operations
  • Experience with online game hosting
  • Experience with software development process
  • Experience with microservices and micro-frontends
  • Experience operating online systems at high scale
  • Experience with cloud migration and multi-cloud environments
