Overview
We are seeking a talented Quest Designer to join our growing team at Bethesda Game Studios Austin. Quest Designers are responsible for designing, writing, implementing, documenting, providing feedback, and maintaining content for our current and future games.
Responsibilities
- Design quest content that tells engaging stories and introduces new mechanics to the game
- Implement quests in our proprietary toolset using a text-based scripting language
- Write character dialogue, in-game books and terminals, quest log entries, descriptions, and player-facing messages
- Collaborate with artists, engineers and other designers in strike teams as needed
- Playtest quests and provide constructive feedback to fellow designers to help improve the product
- Collaborate with Leads to plan quest content releases based on high level direction
- Maintain legacy content and make required bug fixes
Qualifications
- Excellent storytelling, dialogue writing, and editing skills
- Familiarity with a variety of open world multiplayer games
- Experience with one or more established game toolsets
- Excellent communication skills
- Candidate must supply a portfolio featuring examples of their work, including a short writing sample that focuses on dialogue
- Candidate must be willing to take a short design test that includes both writing and scripting sections
Preferred Skills
- Design experience on a AAA game or patching/maintaining a live game
- Experience making or maintaining mods for roleplaying games
- Strong knowledge and interest in Fallout lore
