Overview

As a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft, Zenimax and the video game studios it oversees (such as Bethesda Game Studios, id Studios, & Arkane Studios) makes world class video games enjoyed by fans all around the globe. This Channel Marketing Manager position would be based out of ZeniMax’s headquarters in Rockville, MD. As the Channel Marketing manager, you will be working with the sales team and the head of sales. The manager will be responsible for planning and implementing channel/trade marketing programs designed to increase product sell-in & unit sell-through, with the desire to increase the overall brand exposure and market share with retail channel partners.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development and delivery of sales and marketing materials and tools, content, and promotions enabling our retail and distributor partners to successfully sell BSW products, in line with the strategy and budgets set by the heads of Sales and Marketing.
  • Support the sales team in their efforts to achieve corporate sales targets.
  • Work with a broad team of sales and marketing professionals for strategic planning and tactical implementation.
  • Develop channel marketing strategies and account specific marketing plans that exceed sales goals and margin targets.
  • Manage Co-op and MDF expenditures and all retailer/distributor contracts related to such.
  • Maximize product life cycles through channel campaigns and other promotional mechanisms.
  • Control and coordinate BSW’s messaging in store and on retail websites to ensure maximum exposure, sales effectiveness and branding consistency.
  • Maintain relationships through ongoing contact with buyers and retail merchandising personnel in order to stay current on their most recent marketing strategies and initiatives, and evaluate which ones make sense for BSW’s business and which do not.
  • Accompany sales personnel on all major retail account visits - ideally no less than quarterly - for strategic and promotional planning.
  • Identify the best sales and marketing methods and tactics for increasing product sell-through and brand exposure.
  • Coordinate, plan, and participate in channel sales training and tradeshow events.
  • Develop and implement channel incentive and promotional programs. Conduct audits to ensure that retailers and distributors are implementing programs as agreed.
  • Prepare program collateral and manage regular, on-going, partner communications in order to make sure retailers are aware of requirements, promotional campaigns, sales and marketing tools, and training opportunities.
  • Plan and negotiate partner launch marketing campaigns for new products and programs.
  • Competently demonstrate code to retail and distributor personnel as required.
  • Ensure that all retailer .com sites are current with correct packaging, product descriptions, screenshots and videos. Work with Web Collage or other third party online service to create a brand page for each title and monitor retailer compliance.
  • Negotiate the best possible terms for all trade campaigns.
  • Create and maintain a detailed schedule/database of retail’s standard activity including rate card costs.
  • Be fully aware, and report on, all competitive activity on relevant titles.
  • Develop ideas to ensure catalog titles continue to sell.
  • Track and report against MDF spend and promotional campaign effectiveness and budgets; update monthly metric tracking and reports.
  • Liaise with international offices to develop best in class sales and merchandising programs

Qualifications

  • BS in Business or Marketing or equivalent field
  • Highly creative with a passion for maximizing sales and profitability
  • Demonstrated experience in channel/program marketing, business development, and/or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with retailers in entertainment or consumer products
  • Knowledge of the gaming industry and experience playing games
  • Experience working with both direct sales people and contracted rep firms
  • Demonstrated strong business, analytical, prioritization, and planning skills
  • A solid understanding of publisher, distributor and retailer models
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint & Project
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
  • Self starter with tons of initiative
  • A high level of professionalism and a strong work ethic
