About the Job

The purpose of the Belong Area Manager is to ensure that in each of our Arenas our staff delivers an unmatched customer experience, that in turn leads to maximizing Arena sales and profit targets, as well as executing key operational standards, such as customer service, employee turnover, staffing and scheduling, inventory management, cleanliness, P&L management, and reporting.

The fundamental role of the Area Manager is to guide and coach the Arena Managers in such a way that they are engaged & committed to the success of their teams and their business. To ensure that Arena teams live and execute the Belong Company values.

The following are key responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership

Building a great team of Arena Managers; developing them, training them, and retaining them.

  • Recruiting and inducting new Arena Managers
  • Ensuring that all team members are experts, committed, and motivated to deliver a great customer experience.
  • Having a strong succession plan in your area by developing a strong bench of staff within your teams
  • Coaching and inspiring your Arena Managers to help them improve their performance
  • Dealing with poor performing Arena Managers fairly and with pace.
  • Conducting regular performance reviews with each of your Arena Managers.
  • Ensuring the appearance and behavior of your store teams creates environments that are welcoming; presentable, informal, focused on the customer, helpful, expert, and, above all friendly.
  • Coaching and supporting managers in hiring, staffing, training, and developing arena staff

2. Results Orientation

Being fully accountable for your regional Profit and Loss and maximizing the sales potential of your region.

  • Managing KPIs as a way to drive profit and not as an end result in themselves.
  • Staffing & Scheduling. Ensuring we hire great people, in line with Belong’s Mission and Values, maintaining optimal levels of staffing and ensuring we schedule in accordance to the demands of the business.
  • Controlling costs tightly across the business without negatively impacting the customer experience, sales and profit potential.
  • Taking responsibility for protecting cash and stock as well as dealing with any losses appropriately and as a priority.

3. Process

  • The appearance of each and every store in your region supports the brand.
  • Being aware of the competition in the district/region and striving to be the best in each high street or shopping center that your arenas operate in.
  • Protecting your Area’s profit through adherence to security
  • To share best practices with Regional Director and colleagues to help maximize the performance of the business as a whole.
  • To focus on putting effort into adding value and contributing to the bottom line.
  • To ensure Health and Safety and compliance is correctly implemented across the region.
  • To encourage and develop the Gaming Communities within the region.
  • To support and deliver new business opportunities when these have been identified.

What you bring to Belong

  • 3 to 5 years of multi-unit retail experience required
  • Strong knowledge of Profit and Lost
  • A passion for people and the ability to coach, develop and inspire your team, peers, and functional business partners.
  • High personal energy, a strong work ethic, and a desire to commit and to deliver results.
  • Flexibility in thinking and pragmatic problem-solving skills, thinking outside the box, and the ability to work under pressure and intensity.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and the ability to review and identify issues and opportunities in business processes and systems.
  • Experience in a high-growth environment with proven success in scaling processes, systems, and people across geographies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and be able to function under time constraints and deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Personal values and beliefs that align with Belong’s core values, operating principles, and business philosophy
  • A “hands-on” approach embracing community, achieving results through meaningful connections, and doing what’s right for the company, customer, and community.
  • Esports Gaming Experience desired but not required.
  • Flexibility to travel across the U.S. 50%-75% of the time.
  • Must live in a major city

Physical Attributes

  • Remaining upright on feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Some lifting and exerting up to 10lbs of force occasionally.
  • Visual Acuity -having close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal and reading.
