Role description

As an Economist, your responsibility is to understand how a game works as a service for its customers and project how customers behave. You are expected to improve each game’s financial performance by identifying and developing the key drivers in the game economy context. You will also provide constant data-driven recommendations on design, tuning, pricing as well as live operations.

You’re able to define key metrics that allow you to individually measure their impact on a given title, and work closely with the development team to see designs refined and metrics implemented.

The Economist will also work closely with post launch Live-Ops services, to continuously analyze the collected data and create and share detailed reports about the performing/under-performing aspects of the game economic models.

The ideal candidate would have some experience in social casino, fantasy sports, gambling and / or sports betting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Defining product pricing strategies and project how each change modifies game dynamics.
  • Identifying the potential sale drivers for the different product categories in the game economy, defining the key points of exposure for those drivers.
  • Managing pricing – create specific price point roles and implement selling strategies for key consumers.
  • Regularly providing user feedback and stat/price point tuning to the development team based on play-testing, both during game development and post-release.
  • Analysing the evolution of defined metrics to spot both, monetization bottlenecks and facilitators, and suggest game design improvements or enhance the customer experience accordingly.
  • Collaborate with an extremely talented team of Engineers, Designer, and Live Operations to create addictive, compelling player experiences that will delight users for years
  • Provide input on the game’s vision and identifying potential sale drivers
  • Design, tune, and balance game economies, gathering feedback and adjusting design accordingly
  • Analyze user data to identify and flag fraudulent behavior
  • Be responsible for growing and managing our game economy
  • Create design docs, drawings, diagrams, flowcharts, and any other necessary documents to communicate your vision and prepare reports for internal and external use

This is a position requiring a mix of strong economy, analytics and marketing knowledge with passion for analytical economy design.

EXPERIENCE

  • Independent, proactive, quick to act with minimal supervision
  • 5+ years experience as an economy designer or economist
  • Strong background in Economic Modeling, Social Science Research, and analytics
  • Experience in eSports &/or real money games is certainly an added bonus!
  • Post-secondary education in Economics, Mathematics, Marketing...or some kind of combinations
  • Excellent analytical skills and thinking with the ability to break problems down
  • Market-knowledge that equips you with monetization strategies to improve performance in the game
  • Looking to work hard on problems that move the needle for our entire business in a fast paced, highly rewarding environment amongst a small team of talented engineers, Live ops and designers
  • Passion for games on all existing formats: board games, card games, sports, paper RPGs, gambling, all genres of video games with special focus on competitive games
