POSITION SUMMARY

The Social Marketing & Community Manager, Competitive Games will help plan and execute the esports strategy and launch marketing for select franchises for BANDAI NAMCO in North America. They will collaborate with the Brand team, PR team, Events team, international counterparts, and agency partners to develop and manage esports and game marketing programs for BANDAI NAMCO franchises. This position requires outstanding project management and communication skills for highly effective teamwork across several teams and individuals internally and externally to ensure success.

The Social Marketing & Community Manager, Competitive Games is a driven self-starter who can adapt quickly to changing objectives, opportunities, and challenges in the fast-paced esports/gaming industry. The candidate takes organization, details, and deadlines seriously. They can work independently while managing relationships with internal BANDAI NAMCO teams, external partners, tournament organizers, production teams, players, and sponsors. The ideal candidate has experience developing and managing competitive live and online tournaments, working with esports vendors and facilitators, communicating with competitors, developing social media campaigns, and anticipating and solving business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with internal and external teams to execute esports & game marketing strategies, plans, and programs
  • Build consensus with key stakeholders across BANDAI NAMCO globally
  • Manage and optimize external partnerships with tournament organizers, production teams, players, vendors, and other esports related organizations and cultivate new relationships as needed
  • Oversee the operations for existing esports & game marketing programs and support participation in consumer, trade, and esports events
  • Track and report project status and KPIs in a timely and consistent manner
  • Conduct player and fan surveys and event postmortems to facilitate improvement
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years of brand management, social marketing, and/or community management experience (or relevant experience)
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with competitive gaming leagues and tournaments online and offline or sports organizations management (or relevant experience)
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in partner management (or relevant experience)
  • Knowledge of livestreaming on platforms such as Twitch, YouTube Gaming, and Facebook Live
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, excellent organizational skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working collaboratively with product teams, marketing teams, and other stakeholders
  • Experience working with international teams and exposure to multi-cultural environments
  • Experience managing agencies and external vendors
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and tracking budgets
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms, tools, and best practices
  • Ability to interface effectively with a variety of people, including casual gamers, professional gamers, spectators, and business professionals
  • Passion for video games, especially BANDAI NAMCO titles
  • Ability to travel, including international travel

  • Have experience working with Sprinklr
  • Are involved in various online or local gaming communities
  • Have passion for the gaming space and/or prior gaming industry experience
  • Are an active leader or participant within esports communities, particularly the fighting game community
  • Possess experience in sports or esports live video production and broadcasting
  • Have presentation, teaching, or other public speaking experience
  • Are familiar with game development and design
  • Maintain existing relationships with esports influencers and professionals
  • Have knowledge of the P&L process and analysis
