Overview

Arkane Studios is seeking a passionate Animator to join our Austin team! Reporting to the Lead Animator, the ideal candidate is responsible for breathing life into our various players and creatures for gameplay needs that range from first person, to third person combat and locomotion. The role involves working with a mix of motion capture as well as hand-key animation, and a strong sense of timing, body mechanics, and appealing poses is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain high quality key frame animations (weight, body mechanics, timing, and facial expression)
  • Integrate and clean up motion-captured animations and adapt them to the defined animation style and parameters
  • Collaborate with other animators and disciplines to create a cohesive vision and experience
  • Troubleshoot and solve animation issues with all departments
  • Work closely with engineers and designers to implement animations into the game engine and iterate as needed.

Qualifications

  • Shipped at least 1 game title as an Animator
  • 2+ years of experience in the games industry
  • Technical experience working with game engines and game animation implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of Maya/Mobu animation
  • Expert knowledge of basic principles of animation: timing, dynamics & body mechanics
  • Strong acting and staging skills with focus on expressive and dynamic posing
  • Receptive to constructive feedback and willingness to work through an iterative process
  • Adapt to technical dependencies and engine limitations
  • Excellent organizational, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Experienced with Unreal4
  • Passion for video games

Preferred Skills

  • Experience animating locomotion, combat, creatures or quadruped characters
  • Experience editing Motion Capture using Motion Builder or other software packages
  • Bachelor’s degree in Art, Animation, or Game Development
