We are always on the lookout for ways to help each other, both within the Engineering team, and throughout the studio as a whole.

We are looking for a highly experienced programmer to lead the charge on building out innovative and cutting edge gameplay systems for a massive RPG franchise.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The principal gameplay engineer will be responsible for overseeing technology development for key innovations in RPG movement, combat, AI, physics, animation, and gameplay content systems. The individual in this role will be asked to constantly evaluate the state of gameplay systems and identify the extremely challenging problems they need to focus their own time on, as well as to provide guidance and mentorship to other engineers on the project working to support them. The principal gameplay engineer will be a leader for the engineering team in rapid iteration, getting features and gameplay into the game as quickly as possible to play them and find the fun. The principal engineer – gameplay team will partner closely with the designers and artists building movement and combat systems to deliver innovations in the RPG space together.

The principal engineer will also work closely with the game director, lead designers, art director, and art leads to have strong alignment between design, art, and technical goals to ensure the game being designed and the gameplay systems being built are always in lock step.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Significant experience with networked combat and movement systems, AI systems, physics systems, game content systems, game UI systems, and general game systems. Our ideal candidate needs to have significant experience working closely side-by-side with lead game designers and creative directors with strong perspective and design instincts, and a willingness to have a strong voice for quality and the player experience. Previous experience working on multiple online multi-player games that required networked cooperate or competitive gameplay between players. Experience working on both PC/console products strongly preferred.
