Job Description

We are looking for a Game Director on permanent contract to translate the creative vision into a captivating experience for our players on Humankind.

Under the supervision of the Creative Director, and in close collaboration with all creative leads, you will be responsible for:

  • Co-defining the vision for the live plan of the game and the future of the franchise: high level intentions and key game systems.
  • Ensuring the implementation of these directions in the game through close collaboration with and constant support to production teams.
  • Reviewing and validating all creative deliverables related to the game: gameplay prototypes, concept art, narrative events, voice lines, audio, UI etc.
  • Promoting the vision of the game within the studio and to third parties.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Translating the creative vision into concrete game intentions, systems and mechanics.
  • Managing the Lead Game Designer of the project.
  • Defining clear high level creative goals and engaging production teams and project stakeholders around them.
  • Closely collaborating with marketing on live timelines and content scheduling / prioritization.
  • Adapting to technical and production constraints as well as playtest results, readjusting your design direction as needed.

Required experience

  • Fully fluent or native in English and French.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar or relevant position.
  • Significant experience in Game Design and in managerial & creative positions.

Required skills and profile

  • Knowledge and interest in strategy video games.
  • Creative skills and ability to form an informed critical judgment on artistic direction and game design.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to run a complex and long-lasting project involving multiple parties.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and interact with a large variety of profiles (developers, external partners, players community, journalists).
  • Proactivity in spotting opportunities or potential issues ahead of time and proposing appropriate solutions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
