Are you interested in diving deep into Prime Video datasets to understand customer behavior and drive improvements for the video business? The Product Analytics team for Prime Video is seeking a highly analytical, curious, resourceful, and experienced Business Intelligence Engineer to develop foundational insights about our customers. The core mission of the Product Analytics team is to build analytical tools and develop foundational customer insights that inform product decision-making.

As a BI engineer on this team, you will solve complex analytical problems at a massive scale. You will have a direct interaction with the internal stakeholders such as product, UX Research and senior leadership and you will translate their business requirements into technical specifications. You will partner effectively with the data engineers on the team to automate manual analytical process and continuously improve dev/operational standards. You will work closely with the business and technical teams in analysis on many non-standard and unique business problems and use creative-problem solving to deliver actionable output. Your work will have a direct impact on the day-to-day decision making in the Prime Video org.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Analyze and solve business problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context.
  • Develop solutions that utilize the highest standards of analytical rigor and data integrity.
  • Utilize database and reporting technologies, including SQL, ETL, Redshift, Tableau etc. to design and develop impactful analyses and reporting.
  • Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation, and model implementation.
  • Manage and execute entire projects or components of large projects from start to finish including project management, data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as an analyst or engineer in the data/BI space
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience with SQL
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Science, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related education.
  • 5+ years experience in data mining (SQL, ETL, data warehouse, etc.) and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex data sets.
  • 3+ years experience with Tableau, Analysis Services, MicroStrategy or similar BI Reporting Platform
  • 3+ years experience in complex data analysis (model creation, what-if scenarios, A/B testing, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or Master’s Degree Information Science, Data Science or a related field preferred
  • Proven ability to define and apply the right data visualization as per the problem in hand
  • Proven ability to solve complex quantitative business challenges
  • Verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including experience to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
  • Prior experience in web or traffic analytics, or user experience testing
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
