Amazon Game Studios is looking for a skilled UX Designer to join our Crucible team. This person will oversee development of UX design for the free-to-play competitive team shooter Crucible. This role is a blend of leadership of the UX design team, setting the quality bar for UX on the game team, working directly with teams to build UX, and working with research to measure UX interactions.

You will be the single-threaded owner for quality of UX design for Crucible. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, UX department, game design, competitive team and engineering to define, design and implement fun and innovative solutions. Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas. Determine problem spaces and lead design solutions rooted in player data (quantitative and qualitative). Mock-up UX wireframes, collaborating effectively with game design and art to visually represent game design intentions with a quality visual aesthetic. Partner with creative director to set long term product design goals, feature goals, and game direction.

You will lead and manage a team of UX designers. Supporting their work on game features and content, ensuring high team morale and retention, teaching best practices of UX, expanding their skills and career development, and driving a culture of growth mindset.

You will own vendor relationships for UX design done by vendor partners. You will provide feedback and direction to vendor partners, manage the vendor relationship, and ensure work being delivered by vendors meets the quality bar for the product.

You will have the opportunity to influence and work on future games built by Relentless Studios beyond Crucible as the studio expands and lead/mentor UX designers on other projects.

  • Expert knowledge of UX process and usability design principles.
  • Expert understanding of hierarchy and layout design principles.
  • Significant experience with user research testing of UX design.
  • Strong visual design skills and experience working closely with artists and engineers.
  • Ability to work well within a dynamic, cross-discipline, iterative team environment.

  • Experience working on designs tailored to account for the Twitch viewer experience.
  • Experience working on designs to support esport ecosystems.
  • Have worked on multiple game titles simultaneously.
