We seek a Data Engineer with a strong track record of taking on end-to-end ownership and delivering scalable solutions to enable our BI team and partners in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment! This person will be a creative problem solver who is obsessed with customers plus resourceful, collaborative, and insightful with the ability to work independently under time constraints to meet deadlines.

In this role, you will have ownership of end-to-end development of data engineering solutions and build a data platform that not only caters to Business Intelligence and Reporting but also extends to machine learning applications.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain the GG data warehouse, automate manual processes, optimize data delivery for reporting and re-design infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS big data technologies.
  • Manage data permissions, access roles and security to keep GG data secure across Amazon and Twitch.
  • Collaborate with BI engineers, software developers, product managers, and financial analysts to assist with data-related technical issues, migrations, upgrades and infrastructure needs.
  • Maintain and support Redshift Cluster and Schemas, ETL jobs and tables used for daily, weekly and monthly business reporting.
  • Take ownership of the design and data quality, governance, performance tuning, capacity planning, data availability and operational aspects of the data solutions.
  • Help continually improve ongoing data pipelines and automate or simplify self-service support for customers by building the required master and dimension tables.
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence Engineers (BIEs) to recognize and help adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: Data modeling, data integrity, design, analysis, validation, and documentation.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in implementation and performance tuning MPP databases (Redshift, Snowflake, Teradata, Vertica, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience with demonstrated strength in ETL/ELT and data modeling
  • 5+ years of experience in writing complex, highly-optimized SQL queries across large data sets

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in a modern coding language like Python, Java, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience with big data processing frameworks (Spark, Hive, etc.)
  • Experience working with AWS cloud services (Redshift, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, Glue, etc.)
  • Experience working with external API's
  • Quantitative and qualitative data science experience with demonstrated impact to a business
  • Ability to think critically, question assumptions and devise solutions to challenging technical problems
  • Self-starter, be relentless in execution and fleshing out gaps in expectations
