  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of large-scale production experience in a leadership or technical management experience leading teams of engineers (e.g. as a technical producer, tech director, lead programmer, or similar).

As a software development manager for Core Engine on Lumberyard, you will collaborate with artists, platform partners, and other technical leaders to chart our core systems roadmap and deliver on it. Your ambition is to empower content creators and developers to deliver the revolutionary next generation of real-time interactive experiences. You are passionate about hiring and developing great technical teams, and driving delivery of impactful customer results.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead a team of engineers responsible for the development of a broad range of Lumberyard technology stack.
  • Drive a coherent technology roadmap from sometimes ambiguous requirements balancing a focus on long-term ambitious vision with short and medium term customer requirements.
  • Lead teams of engineers responsible for the development of Lumberyard's core engine technology, tools and workflows.
  • Hire world-class engineers, and retain them.
  • Coach your team members and grow their capabilities over time.
  • Participate in the architecture and technology choices that enable a world-class user experience.
  • Be a champion for the user: Insist on the highest standards, and create functional and engaging features that delight customers.
  • Experience managing remote teams and engineers.
  • Multiple shipped PC/Console titles
  • Proven expertise building tools and pipelines for game technology using Qt and C++
  • Experience with roadmap planning.
  • Deep understanding of game development tools and technologies (e.g. editors, plug-ins, asset pipelines)Experience working on shared/core technology teams for games
  • Experience with CryEngine or Lumberyard (alternatively Unity, Unreal, or other game engines)
  • Experience working in a distributed development environment
  • Working experience with multithreaded and distributed systems
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum.
