DESCRIPTION

Amazon Games is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead our desktop client team. We are focusing on the best possible customer experience, including creating multi-platform capabilities, optimizing application performance, and integrating with Amazon's other gamer-focused offerings. The role requires in-depth understanding of customer needs, product requirements, technical designs, and operations. A successful candidate will have a track record of delivery in terms of features, pace, and quality, and making the correct tradeoffs for varied stakeholders. This leader will partner with Product to build a strategy focused on growing scale and usage for existing customers, while at the same time creating new features to delight an ever-expanding set of new customers.

Your responsibilities are:

  • Build relationships with internal and external game studio leaders.
  • Learn through those relationships what game developers need to grow their business, and write a clear vision to meet those needs.
  • Launching is your goal, so you will begin execution immediately.
  • Growing your product through every step, you'll continually deliver value for game developers.
  • Measure what is needed to make decisions, and how to increase game developer's success.
  • Communicate clearly with our partners, your peers, and our leadership team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) experience
  • 5+ years of large-scale engineering experience in a leadership capacity
  • 3+ years in a management capacity
  • 2+ years of experience in games, publishing/distribution, or developer services

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Interest in working work in a diverse team
  • Game industry experience working on large-scale, commercial online game services
  • Excellent understanding of desktop client applications and creating multi-platform capabilities
  • Distinguished track record of delivering complex and innovative distributed systems
  • Great communication skills and ability to work effectively on shared projects with designers, testers, engineers, and executives
