This position will support the new Montreal Studio. Note that we are expanding our geographical footprint and can be flexible on where this role sits.

Help us build the new Montreal Studio. You will be a founding member and contribute to the creation of a AAA online multiplayer game based on a new IP.

As Senior Game / Backend Developer, you create and support backend systems required to successfully launch and operate a live game, and connect players so they may interact together. You work closely with designers and other developers, guiding them towards a robust and scalable implementation. You collaborate with peers and you make sure your work integrates well with the other game ingredients, providing the player with a unique and frictionless experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement the main backend systems and features of the game
  • Build systems that will serve as a base for other developers
  • Work with your peers to ensure reliability, performance and sustainability of the game features
  • Contribute to the technical and game vision

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in C++
  • 10+ years of experience in development for AAA video games
  • 5+ years of experience developing backend features for AAA video games

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience developing backend features for a AAA game in a live environment
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with Unreal 4 or similar game engine
  • Good working knowledge of French or English
