Amazon Game Studios (AGS) is seeking a seasoned QA Manager to partner with our Seattle-based game studios to bring immersive and engaging gaming experiences to Amazon’s customers everywhere. You will own end-to-end software quality of one or more games; optimize QA processes to reduce risk and improve efficiency in product development, deployment and sustainment; partner with peers to make quality practices a core part of every discipline; hire and develop great talent; and advance team capabilities in test automation, tooling and innovative QA methodologies.

The Role

The selected candidate will be a key QA Manager for AGS in Seattle, with a special focus on establishing a scalable and efficient QA pipeline that with support a growing portfolio of game projects. The candidate will work with internal and external development teams, as well as partner with AGS producers, marketing leads, and player researchers.

Focus and Deliverables for first 12 Months

Within the first year, we expect this impactful leader to:

  • Establish and streamline a QA pipeline to support a portfolio of games, enabling AGS to efficiently and confidently release high-quality products to our customers
  • Directly lead the testing at least one game, and be accountable for testing several other projects
  • Collaborate closely with product teams and partners teams to understand a product vision and customer segment and develop appropriate test strategies
  • Provide strategic direction, effective delegation and mentorship to QA engineers
  • Define and oversee a program to evaluate and communicate the launch readiness of all titles to key stakeholders and executive leaders
  • Establish mechanisms and team structures that will scale alongside our business (e.g. knowledge banks, extensible automation frameworks, “follow-the-sun” test capability, product dashboards).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience
  • 7+ years of experience in overall software QA/test experience; 2+ years as a manager
  • Proven experience in building and managing a test team
  • Demonstrated experience developing high-quality test plans and test reports
  • Experience shipping 2+ products (guiding them from initial planning to a customer-facing release)
  • Knowledge of QA methodology and tools, software testing standards, methods and conventions, and the product development cycle

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for and knowledge of video games and digital entertainment
  • Strong people management skills, with proven ability to hire and grow talented tools developers and test engineers
  • Experience working closely with development and business teams to communicate problem impacts and to understand business requirements
  • Experience driving technological and process innovation
  • Proven success in communicating cross-functionally and across management levels
  • Experience with “games as a service” (GaaS) or “live games” (e.g. ensuring highly-reliable online features, supporting ongoing updates)
  • Experience with DevOps development practices, and contributing to continuous integration and risk mitigation
  • ISTQB (or equivalent qualification) a plus
