Amazon Lumberyard is looking for a Technical Artist, with an emphasis on Rigging and Animation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable troubleshooting, inventing, and documenting workflows for artists creating assets for game development and simulations. You will need to be proficient at scripting and automating DCC applications such as Maya or 3DS Max, as well as comfortable troubleshooting and inventing within the game engine. You will work with art, project management and animation leads to solve specific challenges, provide direction to peers, and need to be comfortable with artistic critique.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Work with customer teams to gather product requirements for technical art and content creation.
  • Define process and conventions for content management to meet written and technical requirements.
  • Design and develop optimal workflows, specialized tools and pipelines to empower content creators to build characters and animations with fast iteration cycles and reduced production timelines.
  • Work with programming team to design, develop and manage full scale production pipelines for real-time 3D graphics projects.
  • Troubleshooting, debugging and memory management of content from end user tools to optimal scene performance in the rendering engine.
  • Design and develop solutions for automation and procedural content generation.
  • Be an evangelist to promote best practices, guiding internal users to take full advantage of the rendering engine.
  • Experience with tool development in Python and ‘Qt for Python’
  • Experience with API development
  • Able to troubleshoot and fix complex workflow issues in cloud-based production pipeline, artist software, version control systems, and engines
